Nepali Folk Tales

(1895-1952) originally published this present volume in Nepali language in 1939. From that perspective, this volume is a classic, for not only enduring a long popularity, but also as an influence on other folklore writers over the decades. Adhikari was a writer and literary scholar, born in Tanahun, Deurali District in Nepal. He first earned a B.A. degree in Calcutta (now Kolkata), India, and later advanced M.A. degrees in both English and Sanskrit in Nepal. He later dedicated his life to education service as the Headmaster of Durbar High School in Kathmandu. He was also a key supportive contributor to Ralph L. Lilley's seminal and monumental A Comparative and Etymological Dictionary of the Nepali Language (1939) with which most students of Nepali language learning are familiar.
