Those who knew him intimately agree that despite his prominence, M P Koirala was inaccessible and introvert by nature. This is why there is added value to this work, and it is rare in any case for Nepali politicians of his stature to write reminiscences. Highly respected by those who knew him closely, and even by his adversaries, M P Koirala on several occasions went against the political current and avoided taking populist positions. This was perhaps why he ultimately became isolated in national politics. He was a storehouse of knowledge about the personalities and events of Nepali politics, which remained unrevealed unlike in the case of B P Koirala. It is interesting to note that M P Koirala had documents in his possession which would have shown him in better light than the information available at the time, and for that mater even up to the present. And yet, he preserved these documents up to the last without getting them published even though that would have improved his personal image. Some of the documents are attached as appendix in this volume.
