Far from the Road: A Community Health Project in the Himalayas

Far from the Road: A Community Health Project in the Himalayas shares the adventures of four young people working with villagers and Tibetan refugees in a remote valley of Nepal from 1974 to 1976.

They describe how they, and the community were ultimately affected by distant forces — warming relations between Nepal and China, shifting CIA support for Tibetan resistance fighters, and political changes in Nepal. This is their story as they learned, laughed and shared pains and sorrows with people who would deeply affect who the authors are today.
