The Constitution of Nepal, 2015 is unique among the newer constitutions of the world in that it was adopted by an elected Constituent Assembly, with members coming in through direct elections or proportional representation. The long and heated arguments, the passionate discussions, the effort to reach logical compromises and solutions while upholding basic democratic values, ensuring empowerment of the deprived communities and identity groups, standing by the principle of social justice, defining federalism and delineating provinces, empowering local government, and confirming the concept of constitutionalism - all of this contributed to what is today the new Constitution of Nepal.
