In these fifteen interviews conducted over seven years, Arundhati Roy speaks of the vital issues that have shaped India in the last decade. She discusses the war in Kashmir, the Gujarat progrom, the Maoist Rebellion and the massive displacement of hundreds of thousands of people by 'development' projects. Through these conversations we hear her thinking aloud about democracy, dissent, the idea of justice, strategies of resistance and what it means to be a writer in these times. Unabashedly political, but also deeply personal, these interviews give us an insight into what made Arundhati Roy the writer that she is.
