The book is divided into three parts: The origin of Buddhism; Buddhism in India in the seventh century; and Buddhism at the present time in Ceylon (Sri Lanka) Tracing the history of Buddhism, it begins with the birth of the Buddha; his education, marriage and visions; his studies at Vaishali and Rajagriha; his austerities and ecstasies; his teachings, sojourn and finally, his death. The book studies in detail the general doctrine of Buddhism; its sermons, parables, the four Noble truths, its laws, ethics and Metaphysics.
