The origins of image worship in India appears to be very ancient and its causes are not exactly known. According to Patanjali the process of fixing the mind on some subject is well defined in space. This has of two kinds internal and External. The book reveals the theory of Panini and the early temptations of an archaeologist of our country for a diligent, mythological background meaning and moral aims.
The book is in two volumes and each volume is again in two parts. It is defined by the worship of Ganpati, Vishnu, and other major and minor Avatars. Volume I deals with Aditya and Navagrahas (Nine planets). Volume II begins with an introduction discussing the cult of Shiva and other important aspects of Shiva. Vol. II part II contains a description of Subrahmanya, Nandikesvara and Adhikarnandi, Chandeshvara Bhakta, Arya or Hariharputra Kshetrapalas, Brahma and the Dikpalakas and demi-Gods.
The treatment has been made by 282 photographs as illustrations and sacred images. Yantras and Sutras are defined and expressed in such a way that is projected as a mirror of Hindu Iconography.
