Bheeshma, born as Devavrata to King Shantanu and River Goddess, Ganga, came to be known as Bheeshma after his supreme oath of celibacy. In the great epic, the Mahabharata, he always took the Kauravas side as part of his oath, though he wished good for the Pandavas. This title, on the great warrior of the Mahabharata, narrates the story of this eighth Vasu (celestial being) who was cursed to be born as a human and also tells us how this central character in the Mahabharata tried to prevent the Mahabharata War, but finally fought for the Kauravas.
