A documentary history of Nepalese quinquennial missions to China, 1792-1906

The Quinquennial mission system formed an important and integral part of Nepal-China relations. This book mainly traces a detailed history of Nepalese five-yearly missions to China from 1792 to 1906. It also includes all the available mission related two hundred and thirty two unpublished documents preserved in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kathmandu; Royal Nepal Army Head-quarters, Kathmandu; National Archives of Nepal, Kathmandu and National Archives of India, New Delhi. These unpublished documents will be useful especially to the researchers and also to the general readers, teachers and students of history.

Based mostly on original and western sources as well as Chinese sources, this book offers the most detailed history of Nepalese five-yearly missions to China available so far. It also throws new light on Nepal-China relations. As such, this book is indeed a significant contribution to the development of Nepal's historiography on the subject.
