On Feb 16th, 2021, on the auspicious occasion of Saraswati Puja, we put a tiny step by expanding Books Mandala with a physical store at Gairidhara, Kathmandu.

As we mark another anniversary of Books Mandala in Kathmandu, our hearts are filled with humble gratitude and tender nostalgia. Our journey, woven through decades, transcends the mere contours of a business. It's a heartfelt narrative of a family's devotion to the world of books and their dedication to sharing this love with others. Let's take a moment to reflect on our modest start in Pokhara and the heartfelt journey to Kathmandu.

The seed of our story was planted in 1992 in a small postcard shop in Pokhara. Managed by a newly married couple, this tiny shop gradually blossomed into a bookstore beloved by many. It was the foundation upon which the Books Mandala legacy was built. The story took a transformative turn with the next generation, whose fresh vision and energy propelled us from the quaint streets of Pokhara into the expansive digital world. This digital success eventually led us to the vibrant city of Kathmandu.

On Saraswati Puja, February 16th, 2021, we softly opened our doors in Gairidhara, Kathmandu. Nestled away from the hustle, our store was a humble corner, a small yet inviting world of books. Despite its modest size, limited parking, and the challenges of a leaky roof, it grew into a cherished retreat for our community. It became more than a bookstore; it was a haven for stories, a place where dreams were nurtured and shared.

Each corner of our Gairidhara store resonated with stories of resilience and hope. We embraced the challenges, from the rainy days that tested our roof to maximizing our snug space. It was the presence and warmth of our customers, their smiles, and book-filled conversations, that infused magic into our small store. Your support and love were our beacon, inspiring us to dream even bigger.

This inspiration led us to Baluwatar in September 2022, where we dared to expand our horizons. We bid a heartfelt farewell to our first home and embraced a new dream—a larger, more welcoming space, complemented by a café for our book enthusiasts. We invested not just in size but in soul, ensuring our new bookstore mirrored the warmth of our original store.

Today, in Baluwatar, every book on our shelves and every coffee we serve carries the essence of our Gairidhara beginnings. Our new location bears the legacy of our journey, one that has been shaped by your steadfast love and trust in us. Our address may have changed, but our spirit remains unchanged—a cozy sanctuary for all who cherish books.
